Amid some heavy-duty Virginia heat and haze, we had a nice time today out at Sky Meadows. The picnic was a pleasure, with brisket, chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs, some Indian snacks, and triple-chocolate cookies. The kids enjoyed the farm animals, the owl and hawks, and especially the bumpy and occasionally steep hayride. We enjoyed the time with our extended family and perhaps made a couple of new friends. We made it home ahead of some thunderstorms that dropped the temps about 20 degrees.

Oddly enough, we didn't eat any strawberries, but at least we came home free of ticks, always a challenge in Virginia.

And the best news? We've yet another day of weekend left. Six epsidoes of The Sopranos are queued up. Woo!
